Desktop Notifications & Mentions: Pick the events that notify you
Desktop notifications, an in-app bell with unread badges, and per-event controls for mentions, replies, DMs, and friend requests.
Which events can notify you?
Four events each have their own setting: mentions, replies, direct messages and friend requests. Turn on the ones you want. Desktop notifications and sounds fire even when the tab isn’t focused, and digest emails are optional.
- A separate setting for mentions, replies, direct messages and friend requests
- Desktop notifications and sounds, even with the tab in the background
- An in-app bell with an unread badge
- Optional digest emails, daily or weekly
How do you see what is unread?
A room with new messages turns bold and shows a count badge. A dot on the organization rail marks any organization that needs your attention, so you don’t have to open each one to check. The bell keeps its own unread badge for notifications.
Can you get a summary by email instead?
Yes. Turn on a daily or weekly digest email and read what you missed in one message. Digests are sent by the email delivery provider that also sends verification links and password resets, as the privacy policy describes.
Do desktop notifications need the desktop app?
No. They fire in the browser even when your tab isn’t focused. Desktop installers aren’t available right now, so the browser is how you get them today. A desktop app would add a tray icon that keeps DenwaysMeet running after you close the window, so calls and mentions would still reach you.
How do tasks and calls notify you?
My Tasks sends one reminder notification on the day a task is due. In a call, sound cues mark joins, leaves and mute. A live indicator shows where people are talking in a voice room, even in a different organization.
